The way you view your tasks can dramatically change how you work. Verk offers four powerful views - each designed for different work styles and situations. Switch between them instantly to match your current need.

Overview of Views

Choosing the Right View

Each view serves different purposes:

  • ** List View** - Best for: Quick scanning, simple task lists, getting started
  • ** Kanban Board** - Best for: Visual workflows, team collaboration, process management
  • ** Calendar View** - Best for: Deadline management, time planning, scheduling work
  • ** Table View** - Best for: Data analysis, bulk editing, detailed task management

Switching views is instant:

  • Use the view switcher in the top toolbar of any task area
  • Keyboard shortcuts: Press 1 for List, 2 for Kanban, 3 for Calendar, 4 for Table
  • Your view preference saves automatically for each project

** Pro Tip**: Different team members can work in different views at the same time. Your view choice doesn't affect others!

Kanban Board View

Visual Workflow Management

The Kanban board shows your tasks as cards moving through columns, perfect for visualizing work progress.

Default columns:

  • ** To Do** - Tasks ready to start
  • ** In Progress** - Active work
  • ** Done** - Completed tasks

Moving tasks is simple:

  • Drag any task card from one column to another
  • Double-click a task to instantly move it to the next column
  • Keyboard: Select task and press or arrow keys

Customizing Your Board

Add custom columns:

  1. Click "Add Column" at the right of your board
  2. Name your column (e.g., "Review", "Testing", "Blocked")
  3. Choose a color for visual distinction
  4. Set column rules - like auto-assign when tasks enter

Useful custom columns:

  • "Review" - For tasks awaiting approval
  • "Blocked" - Tasks waiting on external dependencies
  • "Testing" - Development work in QA
  • "Next Week" - Tasks planned for later

Board Power Features

Swimlanes organize cards by person or priority:

  • By Assignee - Each team member gets their own row
  • By Priority - High, Medium, Low tasks in separate rows
  • By Project - Multiple projects on one board

WIP Limits prevent overload:

  • Set maximum tasks per column (e.g., max 3 "In Progress")
  • Visual warnings when limits are exceeded
  • Helps maintain focus and identify bottlenecks

Card details on hover:

  • See due dates, assignees, and descriptions without clicking
  • Priority indicators with color coding
  • Attachment count and comment indicators

Calendar View

Time-Based Task Management

See all your work laid out by time - perfect for deadline management and planning your week.

Calendar displays:

  • Due dates - When tasks need to be completed
  • Start dates - When you plan to begin work
  • All-day events - Tasks without specific times
  • Multi-day tasks - Longer projects spanning several days

Interacting with calendar tasks:

  • Drag tasks to different dates to reschedule
  • Click any task for quick editing
  • Double-click empty days to create new tasks
  • Resize task bars to change duration

Calendar Views

Multiple time perspectives:

  • Month view - Full month overview with all tasks
  • Week view - Detailed week with hourly time slots
  • Day view - Focus on today with hour-by-hour detail
  • Agenda view - List format sorted by upcoming deadlines

Color coding helps you scan:

  • Project colors - Each project gets its own color
  • Priority colors - High priority tasks stand out in red
  • Status colors - Completed tasks appear muted
  • Overdue tasks - Highlighted in urgent red

Calendar Integration

Table View

Spreadsheet-Style Task Management

Perfect for power users who need to see lots of task data at once and make bulk changes efficiently.

Table advantages:

  • See many tasks at once without scrolling
  • Sort by any column - due date, priority, assignee, custom fields
  • Bulk edit multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Export data to Excel or CSV
  • Advanced filtering with multiple criteria

Working with Table View

Column management:

  • Show/hide columns - Click the column menu to customize
  • Reorder columns - Drag column headers to rearrange
  • Resize columns - Drag column borders to fit your content
  • Pin important columns - Keep key fields visible while scrolling

Sorting and organization:

  • Click column headers to sort ascending/descending
  • Multi-level sorting - Hold Shift and click multiple columns
  • Visual sort indicators show current sort order
  • Remember your preferences for each project

Inline editing:

  • Click any cell to edit directly
  • Tab to move between fields quickly
  • Enter to save and move to next row
  • Escape to cancel changes

Bulk Operations in Table View

Select multiple tasks:

  • Checkbox column for individual selection
  • Ctrl/Cmd + click to select multiple non-consecutive tasks
  • Shift + click to select ranges
  • Select all checkbox to choose everything

Bulk actions available:

  • Change status for all selected tasks
  • Update assignees across multiple tasks
  • Set due dates for entire project phases
  • Move to different projects in batch
  • Delete multiple tasks with confirmation

List View

Simple and Fast

The most straightforward view - perfect for quick task capture and simple to-do list management.

List view benefits:

  • Fastest loading - Great for large task lists
  • Keyboard friendly - Navigate entirely with arrow keys
  • Hierarchical - Shows task relationships and subtasks
  • Compact - See more tasks in less screen space

List Organization

Grouping options:

  • By Status - Separate sections for To Do, In Progress, Done
  • By Project - Group all tasks by their project
  • By Assignee - See everyone's tasks in separate sections
  • By Due Date - Today, This Week, Later, No Due Date
  • By Priority - High, Medium, Low priority sections

Subtasks and hierarchy:

  • Indent subtasks under parent tasks
  • Expand/collapse task groups with arrow icons
  • Drag to reorder both tasks and subtasks
  • Convert tasks to subtasks by dragging under parents

Quick Actions in List View

Hover actions:

  • Quick status change - Click status dots to change
  • Star important tasks - Mark favorites for easy finding
  • Due date picker - Set deadlines with calendar popup
  • Assignee avatars - Click to reassign tasks

Keyboard navigation:

  • Up/Down arrows - Move between tasks
  • Space bar - Check off completed tasks
  • Enter - Open task details
  • Delete - Archive task (with confirmation)

Filtering & Sorting

Find Exactly What You Need

Powerful filtering helps you focus on the tasks that matter right now, no matter which view you're using.

Quick filters (always visible):

  • My Tasks - Only tasks assigned to you
  • Overdue - Tasks past their due date
  • High Priority - Urgent tasks that need attention
  • No Assignee - Unassigned tasks that need owners

Advanced filtering:

  1. Click "Filter" button in any view
  2. Choose filter criteria:
  • Date ranges - This week, next month, custom ranges
  • People - Specific team members or roles
  • Projects - One or multiple projects
  • Custom fields - Any custom fields you've created
  • Status - Specific workflow states
  1. Apply multiple filters simultaneously
  2. Save filter combinations for reuse

Smart Filter Examples

"This Week's Focus":

  • Due date: Next 7 days
  • Assignee: Me
  • Priority: High or Medium
  • Status: Not Done

"Team Review Items":

  • Status: Review
  • Project: Current sprint
  • Custom field: Needs approval = Yes

"Blocked Work":

  • Status: Blocked

Sorting Options

Default sorting varies by view:

  • List: By due date, then priority
  • Table: By creation date (most recent first)
  • Calendar: By due date automatically
  • Kanban: By priority within each column

Custom sorting available in all views:

  • Due date - Deadlines first
  • Priority - High priority first
  • Created date - Newest or oldest first
  • Alphabetical - By task title A-Z
  • Assignee - Grouped by person
  • Project - Grouped by project
  • Custom fields - Sort by any custom field values

Search & Navigation

Find Anything Instantly

Verk's search helps you find tasks across all your projects and organizations quickly.

Global search (Ctrl/Cmd + E):

  • Search task titles and descriptions
  • Find by assignee names or email addresses
  • Search custom field content
  • Filter by date ranges in search results
  • Cross-organization search if you're in multiple workspaces

Search tips:

  • Use quotes for exact phrases: "quarterly review"
  • Search by assignee: @john finds all tasks assigned to John
  • Search by status: status:done finds completed tasks
  • Search by project: project:website finds tasks in the website project
  • Date shortcuts: due:today, due:overdue, due:thisweek

Advanced Search Features

Search within views:

  • Each view has its own search box for filtering current results
  • Search results highlight matching terms in yellow
  • Search persists when switching between views
  • Clear search quickly with the X button

Recent tasks:

  • Recently viewed tasks appear in quick access
  • Recently created tasks for easy follow-up

  1. Calendar view to see today's deadlines
  2. Switch to List grouped "By Due Date"

Troubleshooting

Common View Issues

View not loading:

  • Refresh the page - Views cache data for speed
  • Clear filters that might be hiding all tasks
  • Check organization/project - Make sure you're in the right workspace

Performance with large task lists:

  • Use filters to reduce displayed tasks
  • Archive old completed tasks regularly
  • Table view loads fastest for large datasets
  • Calendar view may be slow with hundreds of tasks

Sync issues:

  • Real-time updates usually happen instantly
  • Refresh if needed - Click refresh icon or press F5
  • Check internet connection - Offline changes sync when reconnected

View-Specific Tips

Kanban board:

  • Cards not dragging? Try refreshing the page
  • Columns too narrow? Drag column borders to resize
  • Missing tasks? Check if they're in collapsed swimlanes

Calendar view:

  • Tasks not showing? Verify they have due dates set
  • Wrong timezone? Check your profile timezone settings
  • Calendar sync issues? Reconnect integration in Settings
